    Sometimes You Just Gotta Laugh

“A merry heart does good like a medicine” Proverbs 17:22 The other day while grocery shopping at Walmart, our 3 year old daughter Kellie suddenly yelled “Oh no Momma…….. you forgot to brush my teeth!” I have absolutely no clue as to what caused her to say that. It was as if she had an epiphany or something. I thought to myself, “Really Kellie? Did you really have to put your mom out there like that?” I realized I had to respond or she would keep repeating herself. All I could say was “Mommy is so sorry. Please don’t blow your breath in anyone’s face. I’ll brush them when we…

    Time Management Issues

Lately, I’ve been feeling as if I am literally racing against the clock. My days are long and my nights are even longer.  In efforts to figure out how I got off track, I’ve done a lot of reflecting. I came up with a few reasons, I’m having difficulty managing my time properly. My oldest daughter’s business has increased. This is actually a good thing. Allison has a small bakery business called “Allie’s Sweet Treats.” She’s been in business for a year and it is really growing. She sells delicious homemade cookies that are baked from scratch. Although we have been baking together since she was about 3 years old,…

    Two Year Olds,Tantrums and Patience

“Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.” Proverbs 14-29 It’s no secret that two year olds can test your patience. That is why this stage is commonly referred to as, “the terrible twos.” I’ve also heard it referred to as “the terrific twos.”   Whether terrible or terrific, one thing is for sure, raising a two year old requires a lot of patience. It is during this stage, children are constantly testing boundaries, desire to be independent and often throw temper tantrums, when they do not get what they want. Our youngest daughter, Kellie, is definitely fitting the two year old bill. In the past week…

    Contentment

“But godliness with contentment is great gain.“ I Timothy 6:6 In the past several years, God has been teaching me the importance of being content. It has not been an easy lesson but it is one I need in order to be victorious in this life. I’m always amazed at God’s ability to add by subtracting. Through the loss of my full-time income, I have gained and am currently gaining more than I ever imagined. I am gaining virtues that cannot be purchased with money yet they are more precious than gold. One of which, is contentment. The bible states, “Godliness with contentment is great gain for we brought nothing…

    Me Time

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”  I Peter 5:7 It’s no secret that motherhood is one of the hardest, yet most rewarding, jobs ever. Between taking care of our husbands and children, cooking, cleaning and doing the laundry, it is easy to neglect ourselves. In fact, many mothers find it extremely difficult to make time for themselves. Personally, this has been a huge struggle for me. There were times during my first couple of years as a mother, I neglected myself because I thought that was what good mothers did.  I felt my sole purpose as a wife and mom was to please my husband…
