The Tough Days

Time Management Issues

Lately, I’ve been feeling as if I am literally racing against the clock. My days are long and my nights are even longer.  In efforts to figure out how I got off track, I’ve done a lot of reflecting. I came up with a few reasons, I’m having difficulty managing my time properly.

  1. My oldest daughter’s business has increased. This is actually a good thing. Allison has a small bakery business called “Allie’s Sweet Treats.” She’s been in business for a year and it is really growing. She sells delicious homemade cookies that are baked from scratch. Although we have been baking together since she was about 3 years old, she is still too young to bake alone, which means more work for me. I really enjoy spending the extra time with her and creating memories. Not to mention, the financial lessons she is learning and it is contributing greatly to our children’s college fund. I definitely want to continue helping her grow her business. Hopefully, I’ll blog about raising a kidpreneur soon!
  2. My usage of social media has increased. This is a biggie for me!  It is so easy to become addicted to social media. Although, I have multiple social media accounts, I check my facebook account most often. I never realized how much time I spend on facebook, scrolling through my timeline and reading my friends posts.  Sadly, I actually spend more time checking my timeline than I do making posts. Although it was invented to help people socialize more, it can actually cause us to socialize less. It sometimes causes a false sense of connection. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t think social media is bad. I just have to be proactive in making sure it doesn’t rob me of valuable time that I could be using more wisely.

The other day, the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, “The most precious gifts in life are relationships and time. Don’t waste either of them.” The relationship with Father God through our Savior Jesus Christ, is the most important relationship one can ever possess. If you haven’t accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior, please know He is waiting, with open arms, for you to do so.

Lately, I’ve been thinking of ways to spend more time with the Lord in prayer and devotion. I really want to grow in grace! I’ve also been thinking of ways to spend more uninterrupted quality time with my family and friends and use my time more productively. Although, it is beneficial for marketing our businesses and keeping in touch with distant friends and family, I have decided to substantially cut back on my social media usage. I think it all goes back to prioritizing. I have to make sure my priorities are in check in order to properly manage my time.

Until next Wednesday, “In all your ways acknowledge God and He will direct your path.” Proverbs 3:6

Do you think social media robs people of their valuable time?
